History of catering

 
Food Gurus Contemporary Catering Company is a Tauranga based event food and service provider operating in the greater Bay of Plenty area. Food Gurus is owned and operated by Chef Evan Lattié and Accountant Rachel Hogg, who have a team of trained service staff and several contract chefs.

 
We are based at the premier wedding venue Charlemagne Lodge, as well as providing onsite catering at any location throughout the greater Bay of Plenty. 
Food Gurus was created in 2007 out of a desire to provide premium food and service, and has been growing ever since.
 
Catering to such events as weddings, corporate and private functions, business clients, sport and cultural events from five to 500 guests, to date we have served food to a staggering 10,722 people!!!
Other achievements to date include:
 

  • Within a few months of providing catering services on a casual basis at Charlemagne Lodge, we secured exclusive catering rights to all functions held there. 

 

  • Following the recent catering of an exhibition opening night at the Fisher Brown Gallery, we have secured the contract to cater all further exhibition openings.

 

  • For the second year running we are the preferred caterers to the AIMS Games annual sporting event held here in Tauranga. 

 
 
We have achieved this by providing a quality focused product and service and are gaining a deserved reputation for professionalism, creativity and excellence. Our philosophy of “yes we can do that for you, not a problem” is our main point of difference and is the driver of our customer orientated flexibility. We create unique menus for each and every event, tailored to suit the client, the venue, the budget and the nature of the event itself.
 
We pride ourselves on our ability to provide more than just food and service, by going the extra mile for our clients. This shows through in our customer relationships, with much of our feedback acknowledging the great way we do things.
 
As an Award winning and creative Chef, with a life long passion for food, Evan is always trying new dishes, experimenting with new flavours and improving menus and services we offer our clients. Evan has developed a fantastic friendly, loyal and hardworking team of staff members who he personally trains to ensure consistency and quality in the product and services we provide. 
 
 
 
Despite the challenges of being in a reasonably small local market and being a young, small company, we believe we are commanding a good percentage of the market. We cater on average 50 weddings per year, which is over 10% of the total weddings for the Bay of Plenty, based on 2008 marriage statistics. In spite of the large number of competitors in the local market, the experience, professionalism and attention to detail which Evan brings to Food Gurus makes us a dominant force in the catering market.
